Clinical Experience Currently, Dr. Kopf works as a licensed psychologist in his private practice, Positive Potential Counseling & Consulting. He also works as Director of Counseling at Chaminade University of Honolulu. As a clinician, he helps individuals, couples and families who want to make their lives better and more fulfilling. He seeks the help them understand and overcome the challenges that prevent them from becoming who they want to be. He has experience with a wide range of difficulties including depression, grief, relationship problems, anxiety, family transitions, self esteem, anger management, career difficulties, and many others. From 1996 to the present, Dr. Kopf has served as the director of Chaminade University’s Counseling Center. In addition to his individual work with students, faculty and staff, he has established a number of innovative experiential learning programs that focused on helping students learn to cope with life’s challenges.Organizational Consulting Experience As a consultant, Dr. Kopf works with organizations to develop the potential of both their individual members and the organization as a whole. He has worked with such organizations as Texas Instruments, Staff of the Hawaii State Legislature, Meadowgold Dairies, Nissan Hawaii, and a number of other organizations ranging from hospitals to scuba diving companies. For each organization, an individualized program is developed to specifically meet the needs that are learned of during the initial assessment. To assist organizations in reaching their goals and making the desired changes, Dr. Kopf is able to use a number of tools including training seminars, interactive workshops, focus groups, and experiential components such as challenge courses. He has provided over 200 workshops and seminars teaching individuals and organizations on topics ranging from Stress Management and Improving Communications to Emotional Intelligence and Leadership Development. In 2000, he began work as a program development consultant with Higher, Faster, Stronger, a program designed to assist high school students and their families in developing the values young adults need to reach their life goals. Toward this end, Dr. Kopf provides expertise in team activities and personal growth that assist participants in developing communication skills, teamwork, trust and other positive traits. Media and Speaking Experience Dr. Kopf has been featured on TV, radio and in newspapers sharing his expertise on a range of topics including managing stress, dealing with family conflict during the holidays, keeping new year’s resolutions, when to seek professional help and how to handle traumas. He is a regular contributor to articles in the Midweek and Honolulu Star-Bulletin. In addition, he has made several presentations to the various staff members of the Hawaii State Legislature to help them manage difficult people and stress more effectively. Through his work with the Higher, Faster, Stronger program, he has been interviewed several times during the program and gave motivational speeches to various audiences during the 2002 HFS Inspirational Tour. |
